Before you buy
What should you check before you buy Testagen?
Check the amino acid sequence first. Testagen is also a trade name for unrelated products, so the name alone does not identify the peptide. This page is about Lys-Glu-Asp-Gly.
- Sequence. The listing should state Lys-Glu-Asp-Gly or KEDG. PubChem records this chain under CID 123863700, rather than under the name Testagen.
- Identity by mass. The reference molecular weight is 447.4 g/mol. A batch certificate should identify the chain by its mass, rather than rely on a purity percentage alone.
- Certificate status. The Peptara Labs batch certificate is pending. The reference formula and weight on this page are published identity data, rather than findings from this batch.
The Testagen match on ClinicalTrials.gov is a testosterone skin product that shares the name. It does not provide evidence for this peptide. For certificate checks, read how to verify peptide purity and the certificates page.

The short answer
What is Testagen?
Testagen is a lab-made peptide of four amino acids: lysine, glutamic acid, aspartic acid and glycine. The short form is Lys-Glu-Asp-Gly, or KEDG. Its published record is small and includes cell studies, bird studies and a chemistry paper.
The bird papers describe this chain as built to match the amino acids found in pituitary gland extracts. They examined the thyroid and thymus in birds without a pituitary. That description differs from the testis label often attached to Testagen online. Neither a trade name nor a tissue label substitutes for what a study measured.

The science
What have lab studies measured with Testagen?
The studies looked at where the peptide went inside cells, what it bound in a test tube and how gland tissue changed in birds. These are different kinds of tests. A binding result does not establish what the peptide does in a whole animal, and a bird result does not establish an effect in people.
Enters the cell nucleus
Labeled Testagen entered the cytoplasm, nucleus and nucleolus of HeLa cells. The nucleus holds DNA; the nucleolus is a smaller part inside it.
Binds DNA and histones
Test-tube studies examined binding to DNA pieces and wheat histones, the proteins DNA wraps around. The DNA work suggested a preference for pieces containing CAG.
Thyroid and thymus in birds
Studies compared KEDG with Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly in birds without a pituitary. They measured thyroid hormones and thyroid or thymus structure.

Applications
What research areas is Testagen studied in?
Peptide and DNA binding
Cell imaging and test-tube binding work examined the chain near genetic material. The cell work used labeled peptides so the researchers could track them.
Peptide and histone binding
A separate study tested short peptides, including Lys-Glu-Asp-Gly, against labeled wheat histones. It was a molecular binding test.
Glands in birds without a pituitary
The bird studies examined thyroid and thymus structure, thyroid hormones, and immune or clotting markers in this specific animal model.
Metal corrosion chemistry
In salt water, KEDG slowed copper corrosion by about 86 percent in the reported test. This is a materials science result, rather than evidence about biology.

Comparison
Testagen vs Epithalon: how do they differ?
Both chains have four amino acids and end in Glu-Asp-Gly. Their first amino acid differs, and that changes their formula and weight. Several bird studies tested both chains in the same model.
| Peptide | Sequence | Formula and weight | Shared research |
|---|---|---|---|
| Testagen | Lys-Glu-Asp-Gly | C17H29N5O9, 447.4 g/mol | Bird thyroid and thymus studies; the thymus paper reported a stronger response for this chain |
| Epithalon | Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly | C14H22N4O9, 390.35 g/mol | Compared with Lys-Glu-Asp-Gly in the same bird studies |
Testagen is also searched beside kisspeptin. Kisspeptin is a natural, much longer peptide with a separate hormone study record, including a study in six men. Testagen has no published study in people. Their names appearing together in a search does not make their evidence interchangeable.

Evidence
What does the published record show?
The verified searches on October 7, 2026 found no paper connecting this exact sequence with testosterone or testis. They also found a trade name collision. The table separates those search results from the labels often used for Testagen.
| Common claim online | What the record shows |
|---|---|
| A testis peptide tied to testosterone | 0 PubMed records for Lys-Glu-Asp-Gly with testosterone and 0 with testis. The bird papers describe a pituitary origin and examine other glands. |
| A clinical study record | The matching Testagen trial is a testosterone skin product that shares the trade name, rather than this peptide. |
| Many papers under this name | The name Testagen returns 2 PubMed records: a cell nucleus study and a copper corrosion study. Sequence-based searches also find the bird and histone papers. |
| Identity settled by the name | PubChem lists Lys-Glu-Asp-Gly under CID 123863700. The amino acid chain identifies the molecule more clearly than the trade name. |
A search result count is tied to its search terms and date. It does not settle every possible use of a chain. Here it shows why the page describes the measured cell, bird and chemistry work instead of making a hormone claim.

Testagen FAQ
What is Testagen?
Testagen is a lab-made peptide of four amino acids, Lys-Glu-Asp-Gly, also written KEDG. It comes from a Russian research program on very short peptides. Its published record is a few cell, bird and chemistry studies.
What has Testagen been studied for?
Lab studies tracked it into the nucleus of human cells and measured how it binds DNA and histones in a test tube. Bird studies measured the thyroid and thymus in chickens without a pituitary gland. A 2025 paper tested it on copper corrosion. No published study has tested this peptide in people.
Does Testagen raise testosterone?
The verified search found no published study that measured testosterone with Testagen. A PubMed search on October 7, 2026 for its sequence with testosterone or testis returned no records. The claims found online were not supported by a study in that search.
How is Testagen different from kisspeptin?
They are different peptides. Kisspeptin is a natural, much longer peptide with its own small hormone studies, including a 2005 study in six men. Testagen is a four amino acid chain with no published study in people. The kisspeptin page explains its separate record.
What are the side effects of Testagen?
No published study has tested Testagen in people, so that record cannot describe side effects in people. Missing data does not establish safety. Peptara Labs sells Testagen for lab research only.
