Before you buy

What should you check before you buy Thymalin?

Check the name first. Thymalin, thymulin and thymosin alpha-1 are different research materials, even when a seller groups the names together. The original Thymalin was a natural calf-thymus extract. A later paper names two short peptides, KE and EW, among its active substances.

Then check what the vial contains. A certificate should test identity as well as purity and show which batch it covers. No batch certificate is available for this vial yet, so the label does not establish its peptide make-up. The original extract described in the papers and this labeled research vial should be kept distinct until a supplier specification or certificate confirms the contents. See how to verify peptide purity and the certificates page.

The short answer

What is Thymalin?

Thymalin is the name of a peptide complex taken from the thymus, an organ involved in immune cell development. Its developers described a calf-thymus extract in their 1997 review. A complex contains several peptides rather than one defined sequence. A 2023 paper names KE, or Lys-Glu, and EW, or Glu-Trp, as two active short peptides in Thymalin. Those descriptions belong to the published research material; the exact contents of the vial on this page remain unconfirmed.

The science

How Thymalin was studied in the lab

The lab record tracks cell markers and immune signals. A cell marker is a protein researchers measure to help identify a cell or its stage of development.

Blood stem cells

The 2020 study measured CD44, CD117 and CD28 in human blood stem cells. The authors used changes in these markers to assess T cell maturation.

Immune cell signals

The 2023 study measured IL-1 beta, IL-6 and TNF alpha, proteins that carry inflammation signals, in stimulated white blood cells in a dish.

Its two short peptides

The same paper studied KE and EW and used computer models to predict possible binding near genes. A computer prediction does not establish binding in a living system.

Applications

Common research areas

Cell development

Blood stem cell markers and the authors' interpretation of T cell maturation.

White blood cell signaling

Inflammation signal proteins in lab cells stimulated before testing.

Peptide identity

The relationship between a natural extract and its KE and EW short peptides.

Computer models

Predicted gene-binding sites that still need experimental confirmation.

Comparison

How does Thymalin compare with thymulin, thymosin alpha-1 and Vilon?

These names look alike, and some sellers list one as another. The table separates the identities described in the papers.

NameWhat it isWhere it comes fromPeptara Labs page
ThymalinA peptide complexThe original material was extracted from calf thymusThis page; this vial's composition is unconfirmed

The same group studied the distinct pineal peptide Epithalon. A shared research group does not make the materials interchangeable.

Evidence

What did the Thymalin studies measure?

2020: human blood stem cells in the lab

The researchers reported CD44 and CD117 markers 2 to 3 times lower and CD28 6.8 times higher. The authors read these marker changes as a sign of maturation toward T cells.

2023: stimulated white blood cells

The paper reported IL-1 beta, IL-6 and TNF alpha signals 1.4 to 6.0 times lower after examining Thymalin and its KE and EW peptides. These were measurements in lab cells.

A 2003 report from the developers' institute followed 266 older adults for 6 to 8 years in St. Petersburg and Kyiv. The report tracked death rates in groups studied with thymus and pineal extracts and a comparison group. This report came from the group that developed the products, and an independent team has not repeated it. It does not establish an outcome for this research vial.

A ClinicalTrials.gov search for thymalin on October 7, 2026 returned 0 registered studies. Every result above comes from lab cells or from reports by the group that developed it. None of it is a result for any reader.
