Before you buy

What should you check before you buy a Semax and Selank blend?

A blend certificate should identify both peptides and give an amount for each. One purity number for the whole vial cannot show how much Semax and how much Selank it holds. A Belgian medicines testing team developed a method to tell the two apart in seized products.

The supplier has not confirmed whether this vial holds plain Semax and Selank or modified N-acetyl or amidate forms. The sequences on this page describe the plain study materials. A supplier specification or the batch certificate must confirm this vial's contents.

The FDA lists both peptides among substances it flagged for possible immune reactions from aggregation, which means peptides clumping together, and peptide-related impurities. It says important safety information is missing for both.

This batch's certificate is pending. No purity figure is claimed yet. Read how to verify peptide purity and check the certificate status before comparing lab claims.

The short answer

What are Semax and Selank?

Semax and Selank are two different peptides, each seven amino acids long. Most of the studies cited here came from Russian research groups. Semax is built on part of ACTH, a hormone. Its sequence is Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro.

Selank is built on tuftsin, a short immune peptide. Its sequence is Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro. Both end in the same three amino acids, Pro-Gly-Pro, but their other amino acids differ. Their shared ending does not establish a result for a blend.

The science

How Semax and Selank work in research models

Researchers studied each peptide on its own. The measurements below describe those tests, and none describes this two-peptide vial.

Semax and BDNF

In rats, researchers measured BDNF, a growth signal for nerve cells. Its protein level was 1.4 times higher in the hippocampus, a brain region involved in memory. Activation of its receptor, trkB, was 1.6 times higher.

Selank and enkephalins

In blood plasma tests, Selank slowed enzymes that break down enkephalins. Enkephalins are natural opioid peptides; enzymes are proteins that drive chemical reactions.

Both slow the same enzymes

Tested separately in blood serum, both peptides slowed the enzymes that break down enkephalins. Each did so more strongly than the standard lab inhibitors used in that test.

Applications

Common research areas

Memory and learning models

Rat studies examined Semax, BDNF and its receptor in the hippocampus.

Anxiety-like behavior in rats

A maze test compared the separate peptides in rats with Parkinson-like nerve damage.

Brain scan measurements

A small study compared Semax, Selank and placebo in separate groups using resting-state fMRI, a scan of brain activity at rest.

Lab identification

Testing teams developed mass spectrometry methods, which identify molecules by their mass, for peptides in seized products.

Evidence

Has anyone studied Semax and Selank together?

Not as one mixture. A PubMed search for both names on October 7, 2026 returned 14 records. Studies that tested both used them separately: an enzyme test in blood serum, a rat study and a brain scan study.

None tested the two together in one vial, so no result on this page is a result for the blend. A result for each separate peptide cannot establish how this vial behaves.

Semax and Selank research FAQ

Has the Semax and Selank combination been studied?

Not as one mixture. In the PubMed search dated October 7, 2026, studies that included both tested them separately. None tested them together in one vial.

What do the safety records say about Semax and Selank?

The FDA says it lacks important safety information on both and flags a possible risk of immune reactions from aggregation and peptide-related impurities in compounded products. Searches of ClinicalTrials.gov on October 7, 2026 found no registered study of either peptide.

How are Semax and Selank different?

Semax is built on a piece of the hormone ACTH and is studied around BDNF, a growth signal for nerve cells. Selank is built on tuftsin, a short immune peptide, and is studied around enkephalins and anxiety-like behavior in animals.
